Louis Daguerre, born _____ was a French photographer who is responsible for the invention of the Daguerrotype process.
Daguerre exposed a thin plated copper sheet to vapours given off by the melting of iodine crystals, creating light sensitive silver iodine on the papers surface. The plate was then exposed in the camera for a long period of time to produce a good quality image. Later Daguerre discovered that a faint image could be chemically developed in to a visible image, which assisted in the discovery of new and modern processing techniques. |
