The Camera Obscura, or "Dark Chamber" in latin is a box or room with a small hole allowing light to pass through and project on to paper using mirrors. This process lead to the development of modern cameras and has traces throughout history.
The first known use of the camera obscura dates back to 400 BC Chinese philosopher Mozi, and similar principles can be seen in the work of Aristottle and Greek philosophers. The process is used to create detailed and accurate manuscripts. Although early models required an entire room, developments in technology allowed for easily available and portable models for professional and amateur photographers |
