Henry Fox Talbot, born 11 Feburary 1800 was a British inventor and photography pioneer.
Talbot inventred the calotype (talbotype) process. Talbot found that when coated with silver chloride, paper showed light-sensitive properties. The paper was exposed in the camera until the image was fully visible, which was a long process and required over an hour of exposure time to create a negative. However the process was a great innovation in the field, as it produces an original negative that could be turned in to multiple positive prints using contact printing. This was an advantage over previous methods such as the Daguerreotype that only allowed the duplication of images. |
