Born July 12 1854, Eastman was an American innovator and entrepreneur who founded the Eastman Kodak Company in 1888. Kodak popularized the use of roll film in photography, assisting in the development in the motion picture film industry. Kodak's ability to provide roll film meant that photography could be mass produced and reproduced.
Eastman is responsible for helping pioneer photography to the mainstream culture of American and western society, by popularizing the art form and creating more convenient methods of capturing photographs. Amongst his achievements in photography Eastman devoted much of his profits to establish educational and health facilities to benefit the broader community. |
